There is a simple moral to this story:  one can write a user-hostile
interface in any language.  Java is not unique in this regard.  The
fact that Java allows many people to quickly check out a program (as 
opposed to having to somehow acquire and install it) may be both its
great strength and weakness -- if you do a bad job, a lot of people 
will see it very quickly!
