[firedrake] Firedrake and xcode

Hi Francis,

Thanks for this. This is really helpful. Happily I have just asked our
operations manager to procure a new mac for build testing so we'll try to
build with minimal xcode there, and assuming it works we'll push a change
to the firedrake-install script.
