Status: Extensible Log Format (XLF) Initiative

At this point, there are 10 participants and I am expecting more to join the
initiative on Monday and tapering off after that.  Assuming everything goes
well, we should have about 30 developers participating in various capacity
on the spec by end of this week.  We should have a mailing list setup by
then as well.

I would like everyone to understand that this effort will be a short and
intense effort to establish the core XLF spec and then divided efforts to
address DTD for individual log types starting with HTTP.  In parallel, we
will actively solicit support from server companies and log analyzer
companies so that the new format will gain quick acceptance.

I will post another status report by Tuesday so that everyone can be
informed.
