Has anyone implemented versioning XML documents in a DOM Tree model

Do you really want versioning of the DOM objects, or of the XML document
itself?

        I am implementing XML documents in the DOM tree model. However a
new requirement came
    in which required versioning of the DOM tree. Has anyone tried or
begun or actually implemented
