Cool Emacs Modes?

Gang,

I finally got a genuine emacs (20.3.1) running on my windows machine (no
more bad DevStudio "epsilon emulation" for me!), and I notice it has an
SGML mode built-in, which works very nicely on my XML docs.

What I would *LOVE* would be if emacs would do validation checking of my
XML document against my DTD on the fly; maybe even tell me about attribute
default values and such. Has anyone written the necessary .el to do these
sorts of things?
