Patrice Bonhomme asks how to put binary data into an XML instance.
Obviously, one cannot just put binary data inline without some form of
encoding. Here one has choices, and no specific encoding for this purpose
is presently endorsed by the W3C or IETF, though some recommendations may
come from the W3C XML schemas effort.

Microsoft's MSXML parser, shipped with IE5, supports MIME base64 encoding.
