Element Tags vs Attributes

A while back there was a brief discussion of using element tags vs
attribute list to identify values. Briefly:
One benefit of sticking with element tags is that all PCDATA values
are collected and application variables set "on one page". When using both
element tags and attributes, values are collected "on two different pages".
Maintenance and debugging is easier when all input XML values are
collected/set in one place.
