should FOP require JDK1.2.x?

I just checked IBM's site.
They now offer a preview release of Java 1.2 for AIX.
(See http://www.alphaworks.ibm.com/tech/aixforjava2.)

The other IBM Java virtual machines support 1.1.x,
but not 1.2. I found the following list at
http://www.ibm.com/java/jdk/download/index.html:

- IBM Developer Kit for Linux ®, Java (TM) Technology Edition, alphaVersion 1.1.6 (June 1999) 

- IBM's port of Java 1.1.6 for AIX GA plus JIT (24 September 1998) with PTFs from 2 June 1999 

- IBM's port of Java 1.1.8 for AIX Developer Release plus JIT (2 June 1999) 

- IBM Developer Kit for Windows, Java Technology Edition, Version 1.1.8 GA plus JIT (30 July 1999) 

- IBM's port of Java 1.1.8 for OS/390 GA plus JIT (30 July 1999) 

- IBM's port of Java 1.1.8 for OS/2 Warp GA plus JIT (30 July 1999) 

- IBM's port of Java 1.1.4 for VM/ESA plus NetRexx (28 August 1998)
