I fully agree with this. With enthusiasm it is remarkable how much can
get done. One of the benefits that the UK has is that it's small enough
for people to get together and there is a long tradition of collaboration.
One of the delights of the PPS course
(http://www.cryst.bbk.ac.uk/PPS/index.html)
was the great degree of collaboration from the participants. Amongst the
achievements were lists of resources, collation of technology, and
foremost the creation of a hyperglossary. Echoing the suggestion here we
floated the idea of a 'molecule of the week' but it didn't get off the
ground.
The central thing is that there should be an easy way of mounting
cgi-scripts and editing them. (Remember that almost all forms require a
cgi-script to process them.) A library of cgi tools would be extremely
valuable. If anyone has a database engine that can process the results
that is extremely valuable (we looked at /rdb - the author gave us some
help - but we didn't have enough resource).
IF we can get a collection of resources I am sure that otehrs will add to
it rather than duplicating it.
