Yes, indeed.  CDF appears to accomplish much of what I've 
proposed.  Still, I will work away on SMDL as a learning exercise.  
(I completely forgot about CDF;  I have worked with channels before 
but it slipped my mind that, of course, it can be used to offer almost 
precisely the site mapping functionality I had in mind.)
