Same as they do for everyone else.  See:

for details, unless it's been revised since. It doesn't look too painful.

Looking through my Netscape settings, it seems like the x- types are used
without too much concern. Unless you hit a naming conflict, registration
doesn't really matter.  It doesn't seem like a large problem.
