>This is a call for participation in the SC 32/WG 2 Open Forum on Metadata
>Registries, which will be held January 17-21, 2000 in Santa Fe, New Mexico,
>USA. You are invited to register to attend. You may also participate by
>contributing relevant papers or web links.

>This is the fourth in a series of  international conferences on this topic.
>Participants from private enterprise, government, academe and standards
>organizations will explore the capabilities, uses, content, development and
>operation of metadata registries, particularly those based on ISO/IEC
>11179. Emphasis is on managing the content (semantics) of data that is
>shared within and between organizations or disseminated via the World Wide Web
>
>This Open Forum will highlight ongoing metadata registry efforts with
>"tracks" that describe metadata management activities in the fields of
>health care, environmental protection/cleanup, statistics & demographics
>(e.g., census and labor/economic statistics), transportation, aeronautics &
>space, geographic information, electronic commerce and emerging
>technologies (e.g., XML, common business objects and object query interfaces).
