SML Status Report

It would be interesting to know whether items such as entities,
Doctype declarations, CDATA sections, non-UTF encoding, comments, 
PIs, Text declarations, etc. have been banished from the syntax 
or only from what is exposed to the user from the parser, as these 
concepts are, IMO, fairly easily converted / filtered by a simple 
parser.

If they have been banished from the syntax, existing ecommerce
applications that find these constructs quite beneficial and
simplifying to the applications exchanging data are likely to
reject the approach.  With an austere all or nothing approach,
I know what my choice will be.
