The features you mentioned will not be support by SML syntax.
This does not mean SML will be less expressive than XML unless
you consider XML to be less expressive than SGML because it
lacks certain syntatic features.

We are planning to add a layer on top of SML that bridges the
differences in SML and XML information models.  In that layer,
you will find elements that correspond to comments, PI, an
entities.

I would like to avoid another SML/XML flareup if possible.
